Explore 95 miles of Scotland's most outstanding scenery on a south to north eight-day walk from the lowlands of central Scotland to the rugged highlands at Fort William in the shadow of Ben Nevis. Daily walks range from 7 to 14 miles with the trail following the route of former railway lines, old military roads, forestry tracks, glen and hill paths and passes; underfoot, the terrain can be well finished to wild and rough.
The Way follows the lakeside of Loch Lomond, crosses the wilderness of Rannoch Moor - perhaps the most desolate beautiful place in the British Isles, and ascends the Devil's Staircase out of Glen Coe. Although not a high level route does take in a few summits with panoramic views over the isles, coast and surrounding landscapes - and even takes in a distillery.
Meals: Half board with breakfasts and dinners taken at the hotels.
Picnic lunches are included on each walking day. Accommodation: Gartmore House, Gartmore, Scotland
Gartmore House is a magnificent 18th century country mansion set in rolling farmland with spectacular open views to the hills and mountains from every window - with some stretching towards Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument and Lake Mentieth. Each well furnished bedroom is individually decorated and has its own unique character; the period decorative detail and historic feel in many of the rooms contrast with the sharp contemporary décor elsewhere.
