Who can enjoy a UK walking holiday?

Our holidays are open to everyone. If you lead a reasonably active life and love discovering new places, a walking holiday is for you! Ramblers Countrywide Holidays are renowned for being friendly, fun experiences, suitable for all ages and party make-ups, from single travellers to couples and large groups of friends.

We cater for a wide range of walking abilities and special interests to ensure there’s something for everyone. We grade our holidays to give an indication of the fitness required for each one, but even if you have never been on a walking holiday before, most people have a general level of fitness suitable for the lower grade holidays. It’s amazing how much walking you do during simple everyday activities!

Single Travellers

Walking holidays are ideal getaways for those travelling alone, and about half our group members are single travellers. They know that they will be made to feel welcome and will meet people who all share a passion for walking and outdoor life. This is a great chance to make lasting friendships, and we have a high number of single rooms, often with no supplement, throughout the UK.

We also offer options that mean that you don’t necessarily have to pay a single supplement.

Over 75s

All our walking holidays are open everyone, however, if you are 75 there may be some health and safety issues we need to consider before you book. We strongly recommend that you have a medical examination before booking, to ascertain your personal fitness to join a walking holiday. For health and safety reasons we may ask you to sign a declaration stating that you are fit to undertake your chosen holiday.

At the other end of the scale, we generally do not consider the holidays on our Countrywide programme to be suitable for children under 16, but there are always exceptions, and we will always try to accommodate your requests if it’s possible. We have, however, developed a new programme specifically for families where the activities and walks are aimed at the younger members. Family walking holidays

We offer selected holiday dates for family walking holidays but generally do not consider our holidays suitable for children under 16. However there are always exceptions, and we will always try to accommodate your requests if it’s possible.

Disabled travellers

We want to ensure that our holidays are accessible to as many people as possible and we recognise that the term ‘disability’ covers a broad range of impairments, many of which have no impact on mobility or the ability to participate in our holidays. The nature of our holidays does mean however, that some will not be accessible to people with certain disabilities.

We are always happy to discuss any disability related needs with you and will make all reasonable adjustments to accommodate them if full details are provided in writing at time of booking.

If we feel we cannot meet your needs or if subsequent to booking any additional needs arise that we cannot properly accommodate, we reserve the right to decline your booking.
